One of the things I used to like about CM was the gathering at the end of the ride. Someone would choose an interesting and scenic route, usually without any steep hills and through a residential neighborhood, and after about an hour and a half of scenic riding, we'd end up at some park where people could bring beer and pass around doobies and enjoy each other. These days, the ride meanders around downtown for a really long time, and just kind of goes until it peters out. There are lots of separate social gatherings but no stop place. I'm not complaining, because I still like the ride, and I'm not willing to do the work to plan a route and promote it, just sayin',... that would be great!

I do like the perpetual Plan B: When all else fails, go to Zeitgeist.
But, I hear ya, Dave. BTW, it was great to finally meet you last night. I saw you briefly - later in the ride - when we hit "Versailles." -

Unsu...
I've spent many a drunk last Friday of the month at Zeitgeist, that's for sure! I did something I almost never ever do: made a plan to do something after Critical Mass (go to a good friend's housewarming/wife's birthday party). I hate making plans; I usually treat the Mass like a religious event, just get on my bike and see where the spirit takes me. More often than not, that's Zeitgeist! ;-)
Yes it was great to meet you.
See you later,

zeitgeist is always a good plan B (or A)
Last nights ride on the peir 39 walkway was great tho. I'd love to see something end up on the aquatic park pier (where van ess ends at the bay) If you've got a jacket that's a great place to party..

Another vote for zeitgeist as a destination. I really want to make it from Market to Ocean Beach and back with plenty of Golden Gate Park and Haight street on the way.

OB! You'll kill everyone. So many peeps arent ready for the hills... If we hit the beach we should drink there :)

MORE HILLS, YES! -- but more space between bikes when you get to do them. Geez, I always get stuck behind the single-speed bikes when CM finally hits a good climb. Or else, one of the folks with the stereo systems in-tow and the thang flips over or they have to pull over and you have to stop and let them move and you lose your oomph.
