Greetings all-
I am starting to get really frustrated with BART bike policy, especially in Oakland. I am interested in organizing a BART critical mass, in which a large number of folks attempt to board a BART train/station during prohibited hours.
Any interest?

Re: BART Critical Mass?
04/08I would suggest possibly a west bound train from the 19th street Oakland station sometime between 6-7p.m. Monday through Friday. This station is typically empty during this time and bikes are prohibited. This would identify the frivolousness of the policy, or we could go high profile...... -

Re: BART Critical Mass?
04/08my frustrations are with being told to not take my bike on bart during non-prohibited times. when it's a passenger, i just tell them it's allowed. but, when it's the engineer (or whatever), there's not a lot you can do. i was told to get off of a tarin wtih babycarriages on it (more like baby SUVs), because it was too crowded. bullshit. i'm curtious, i can handle my bike.
i'm with you, anytime, anywhere. -

Re: BART Critical Mass?
04/08im down!
bikes allowed on trains all hours. if its a crowd issue they should designate an entire call for bike folk.

Re: BART Critical Mass?
04/11NYC subway trains allow access for bikes at all times, but passengers are expected to show common sense and not try to bring bikes on when the trains are crowded. The policy works. BART should adopt the same policy. -

Re: BART Critical Mass?
04/12that's essentially what it is in the east bay (the city trains have some restrictions). however, the bart operators and bicyclists sometimes have different ideas of what too crowded is.
